Love and the Rose Garden
When Britt, my elder daughter got engaged, her immediate request was to have her nuptials in the rose garden. The biggest events we’d hosted till then were garden club meetings, so you can imagine my trepidation….
After much debate, we all decided that acquiring the necessary furniture and fittings to make the wedding a success would be preferable to renting them. This translated into endless hours on the internet sourcing the necessities while also decided on sufficiently neutral items that could be used repeatedly.
Well, it rained until after lunch on the day. And the whole family and some of the guests worked through the night putting up the patio curtains I happily take for granted now. The weather had turned freezing and we had planned for summer! Anyway, all of the drama resulted in us building the Conservatory…..In fact, they were the only couple to say their vows in the Rose Walk without the roof.
None of this put a dampner on this joyous occasion. In fact, Andre was so taken by the sheer beauty of his bride that he rushed down the aisle towards and claimed his prize from Greg – much to the amusement of the entire congregation. So far, Grooms, Andrè has been the only one who just couldn’t contain his excitement!
We rang the bell for the first time in honour of a love story that day, played lawn games, had a fantastic harvest table, a fabulous candlelit dinner and then danced the night away – the birds were already awake before we turned in!
The net result was that we had numerous enquiries and bookings after that. This fabulous wedding was the starting point – our family garden is now home to The Rose Pavilion, wedding venue extraodinaire.
